Baking & Decorating Tips and FAQ'sWhat type of cake mix do I use? Kupcake Konz™ ice cream cone cupcakes are best when made with a cake mix without pudding in the mix (we recommend Duncan Hines). We also recommend Jiffy Cake Mix for small batches of Kupcake Konz™. Prepare mix as directed on package. Bake at 350 or at temperature recommended on mix. *Moist cake batter or pudding in the cake mixes may not cook completely through. Some may cook just fine, but when storing they can make the cones soggier and/or cause the cones to expand making them harder to remove from the pan. How many Kupcake Konz™ do I get out of one cake mix? One standard cake mix makes about 100 mini ice cream cone cupcakes (2 Family Size Kupcake Konz™ trays) or 33-35 large (1 Family Size Kupcake Konz™ tray) ice cream cone cupcakes. A Jiffy Mix or Duncan Hines Cupcake Mix makes about 40 mini ice cream cone cupcakes or about 13 large ice cream cone cupcakes. Do the pans go in the oven? Yes, our pans are designed to go directly on your oven rack. You can prepare, bake, decorate and store in the pan. Also, the pans are dishwasher safe. Where can I buy the mini cones? Mini (Joy Kids) cones are available in the New England area at Shaw’s, Hannaford, ShopRite and Target stores. For a detailed nationwide list, see list of retailers at the bottom of this page. We are sad to report that Wal-mart Super Stores recently discontinued carrying the mini cones. No, the cones bake just fine. The only time they may burn is if the cupcakes are overcooked! How do they taste? Kupcake Konz™ ice cream cone cupcakes are a delicious way to eat cupcakes, and they are 100% edible! The cones taste pretty much the same, the difference is that they are less crunchy after baking. How long do I bake the Kupcake Konz™?
How high do I fill the cones? Fill batter to line (where cone changes shape); resist the urge to overfill; when baking, cones will overflow before rising. What are the squeeze (fill) bottles for? We recommend using a squeeze bottle to fill the cones with the cake batter. It is the best way to fill the mini cones, but we also like to use one (with a larger hole) for the large cones. You may also use a spoon or cup to fill the cones. What are the other uses for the pans? The mini pans are used for baking Kupcake Konz™. They can also be used to prepare and serve mini ice cream cones. Some people like to put other things, such as pudding, inside ice cream cones. You may create other types of treats to make and the pan will make it easy to prepare, transport and store. The large pans can be used for many things. Baking the Kupcake Konz™, preparing and serving ice cream cones, and for anything that you could make in a 3oz (bathroom size) plastic cup. Some ideas for the 3oz cups include: dirt cups, Jell-O shots, fruit cups, individual servings of snack mix, individual desert parfaits, and so many more…The uses are only limited to what your imagination can create! Brownies and muffins can also be baked in the mini and large ice cream cones! Tips:
